Thank you! I wish more of the fanartists on this site would follow advice like this. I used to draw like you did in that one example of how NOT to draw - even into my twenties - though I did often draw preliminary shapes. Mostly my weaknesses are foreshortening and perspective. Anyways, cool tutorial!

THANK YOU for this tutorial - this is precisely what I've been dying to learn how to do. You put it in words better than I could have done, and I thought I was doing a pretty good job on my own. Again, thank you so much for this - definitely a favorite AND a bookmark. I just have to get over my fear of drawing in Photoshop and just DO it!

Hi, I just wanted to say how grateful I am for all these tutorials you've shared. I'm really convinced now that following your advice is a sure-fire way to improve.

Oh, and in case you'd like to see, I credited your instructions and documented my first attempt at following these methods in this whacky little deviation: [link]

Wow! Awesome tutorial! Although, I use the 'no preminilary lines, circles, or skeletons' technique.

T-T ...I don't draw like a five year old. I draw awesomely!

Even though I said it's one of my absolute rules, it can still be broken. :)

I only included that one because it's something I see a lot of new artists doing. (And something I used to do myself. A lot.)

Yeah, mainly because some new artist probably have trouble with the circle technique and it looks like a pile of poop when they try it, Like myself.

I've seen other people use blocks, or random shapes, or even scribbles. I guess my point was that it's a good idea to have some sort of foundation, especially if you're doing complicated poses or are trying to arrange more than one character in a scene.
